Frequently asked questions
What is a lease?
A lease is a legally binding written agreement between landlord and tenant. A lease describes a tenancy, a tenancy agreement and the obligations, rules and rights of the tenancy. The tenancy agreement describes, among other things, the start of the tenancy agreement, the amount of money to be paid (rent, deposit and prepaid rent), the size of the tenancy, right of use of e.g. the bicycle cellar and laundry cellar, maintenance requirements, the accompanying furniture and agreements in relation to electricity, water and heating. The standard lease for private letting is lease A9. It is used both as a fixed-term lease, as an unlimited lease and as a sublease. In lease A9, one must pay particular attention to clause 11, which describes the special conditions of the lease. Here, the landlord can choose to add a number of additions, such as time-limited rent, conditions for pets and rent regulations.
